الأمم المتحدة تعين وزيرة البيئة المصرية أمينة تنفيذية لمكافحة التصحر
نيويورك 22 أيار (بترا) أعلن الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة، أنطونيو غوتيريش اليوم عن تعيين المصرية ياسمين فؤاد كأمينة تنفيذية جديدة لاتفاقية الأمم المتحدة لمكافحة التصحر خلفا للأثيوبي إبراهيم ثياو. وقال بيان صدر من الأمم المتحدة أن تعيين ياسمين فؤاد جاء بعد مشاورات مع مكتب مؤتمر الأطراف في اتفاقية الأمم المتحدة لمكافحة التصحر. وتتمتع ياسمين بخبرة طويلة في الدبلوماسية البيئية وتشغل حاليا منصب وزيرة البيئة في مصر منذ عام 2018. -- (بترا)

Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken spoke today with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry. The Secretary reaffirmed that the United States does not support a major military ground operation in Rafah, where over one million people have taken shelter, and he reiterated the United States’ rejection of any forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza. The Secretary and the Foreign Minister discussed measures to expand access for humanitarian assistance to enter Gaza, including reopening the Rafah border crossing and utilizing Kerem Shalom to its maximum extent. They also discussed the need to alleviate distribution challenges inside Gaza, and the importance of protecting civilians and aid workers. Secretary Blinken thanked the Foreign Minister for Egypt’s ongoing efforts to reach an immediate ceasefire that secures the release of hostages and discussed ongoing diplomacy to prevent the conflict from spreading.
